Set up competitor tracking from the Competitors tab: run a Discover lookup (3 credits) to find the domains competing for your keywords, then add competitors to a project to monitor their rankings, traffic, and keyword gaps against yours.
Competitor tracking shows how rival domains stack up against yours: which keywords you have in common, how visible they are, and where they out-rank you. You set it up from the Competitors tab, and the numbers are reported at the domain level rather than as extra columns inside the rank tracker.
There are two parts. A discovery lookup finds the domains that compete with you, ranked by how much keyword overlap they have. Project tracking then monitors the competitors you choose over time, comparing their rankings, traffic, and keyword gaps against your own. All of the metrics are domain-wide summaries, not per-keyword positions.
From the Competitors tab, enter the domain you want to analyze and pick a country, then run Discover Competitors. Each lookup costs 3 credits. Competitors are ranked by organic keyword overlap in the country you selected, and each result shows:
Use these columns to tell apart the domains genuinely competing for your terms from large sites that happen to rank for a few of them.
To monitor a competitor over time, add it to a project. Enter the competitor's domain (a display name is optional), and NitroShock tracks their rankings, traffic, and gaps against yours on a schedule. Enter domains without the protocol, so example.com rather than https://example.com/.
Project competitors are attached to a project and shared with everyone on your team. Account-level competitors, added without a project, stay personal to you. The same domain cannot be added to a project twice.
Competitor tracking answers domain-level questions. For the neighboring jobs, use the tool built for them:
Do competitor rankings appear next to mine in the Rank Tracker?
No. Competitor data lives in the Competitors tab as domain-level metrics. To see your own keyword-by-keyword positions, use the Rank Tracker; to find the exact keywords a competitor beats you on, use Prospects.
What does a discovery lookup cost?
Each Discover Competitors lookup costs 3 credits. Adding a discovered competitor to a project for ongoing tracking does not repeat the lookup.
Can my team see the competitors I add?
Competitors added to a project are shared with your whole team. Competitors added at the account level, without a project, are visible only to you.
How should I enter a competitor domain?
Use the bare domain, without http:// or a trailing slash. NitroShock matches the domain in search results, so paths and protocols are not needed.
