Create clean, SEO-friendly URLs from any title or text
Turn a headline into a clean URL slug: lowercase, hyphenated, accents stripped, punctuation removed. Free, instant, no account.
Paste a title and get back a slug that is safe in a URL. The transformation lowercases everything, replaces spaces with hyphens, converts accented characters to their closest ASCII equivalent, and strips anything that would need percent-encoding.

The third example shows stop-word removal, which is optional and worth understanding before you turn it on. Dropping "the", "for", and "in" produces a shorter slug that reads fine, but it also detaches the URL from the title. Consistency between the two is a small trust signal for readers deciding whether to click. Short is good; unrecognisable is not.
Short enough to read in a search result, descriptive enough to survive being pasted into a message with no context. Three to five meaningful words is a reasonable working range, though nothing breaks at seven.
Leave dates out unless the content is genuinely tied to a date. A slug containing 2026 becomes a liability the moment you refresh the article, because updating the content means either living with a stale URL or changing it and dealing with the redirect. The same goes for numbers in listicles: a slug promising ten items constrains the article forever.
Keep the folder structure shallow. Search engines handle deep paths without difficulty, but every additional level is another thing to maintain and another place for a broken link to hide.
Changing the slug of a published page changes its URL, which means every link pointing at it now points at a 404 and whatever ranking that URL had starts from nothing. If the page has any history, the change needs a 301 redirect from the old URL to the new one, in place before the change goes live rather than after.
The honest calculation is that a slightly imperfect slug on a page with existing traffic is almost never worth the risk. Fix slugs before publication. After publication, leave them alone unless the URL is actively misleading.
Should slugs match the page title exactly?
Close is better than exact. Trimming filler words is fine; rewriting the meaning is not.
Do keywords in the URL affect rankings?
Barely, and far less than the same words in the title tag or on the page. Write slugs for humans reading a link.
Are underscores acceptable instead of hyphens?
Hyphens are the convention and are treated as word separators. Underscores are not. Use hyphens.
Is this tool free?
Yes, with no account and no limit.
Clean slugs are the easy part. An account adds the crawl that finds the old URLs still pointing at pages you renamed.
