Add keywords to your project's Rank Tracker, set the location and device you want to monitor, then check positions on demand or on a daily or weekly schedule. Each check costs 0.5 credits per keyword.
Rank tracking watches where your pages sit in Google for the keywords you care about. This guide covers adding your first keywords to a project, then setting the location, device, and check frequency so the positions you see match the searches you actually want to win.
Keywords are tracked inside a project. Each keyword is checked in Google for a chosen location and device, and the position is saved so you can watch it change over time. A check costs 0.5 credits per keyword. If you track competitors, their positions come from the same search result, so they do not add to that cost.
Open the project you want to track and go to its Rank Tracker. Use Add Keywords to enter your terms. You can add a single keyword or paste a list, one keyword per line, and they are saved to the project's keyword list. You can import up to 1,000 keywords in one go.
Track terms that reflect what people actually search to find you, and keep each keyword to the phrase itself, not a full question or URL.
Every keyword is tracked against a location and a device, together called a tracking target. Search the location field for a country, region, or city, and choose Desktop, Mobile or Both Mobile & Desktop. New projects default to United States on Desktop.
Desktop and mobile results often differ, so tracking the same keyword on both is a separate target and a separate check. Set the location to the market you serve rather than where you happen to be sitting.
You can refresh positions on demand, or set a schedule to check them automatically on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Every check, manual or scheduled, spends 0.5 credits per keyword, so the number of keywords and how often you check them together determine your credit use.
Which search engines are tracked?
Rank tracking uses Google, with your choice of location and device. Other search engines are not tracked.
Can I track the same keyword on desktop and mobile?
Yes. Add it under a Desktop target and a Mobile target. Each is checked separately, so each counts toward your credit use.
How many keywords can I add at once?
Up to 1,000 keywords per import. Paste them one per line, or add them individually as your keyword set grows.
Does adding competitors increase the per-keyword cost?
No. Competitor positions are read from the same search result as your own, so a check stays 0.5 credits per keyword whether or not you track competitors.
