NitroImg v1.6.0 - Media Library Tools and Bulk Upload Reliability
Fix images the automatic pass missed straight from the Media Library, and bulk uploads now ride out rate limits instead of giving up on images.
Media Library tools
- Convert and alt text buttons on every image - the attachment details panel now has Convert to WebP and Generate alt text + title buttons under the Filename row, in both the grid view and the Edit Media screen. They work on any image, including one that is not placed in a post yet. If the image is already used in posts, the new alt text is written into that content too. Replacing existing alt text asks first.
- Bulk action for a whole selection - select images in the Media Library list view and choose NitroImg: convert + alt text. They join the background queue and are processed a few at a time. Images that already have both are skipped, and an image the queue had given up on gets a fresh start.
- Failures are visible - when the automatic upload pass gave up on an image, the reason now shows in the attachment panel, next to the buttons that fix it.
Bulk upload reliability
- Rate limits no longer lose images - when the service was busy during a large upload, every image in the batch hit the same limit and used up one of its retries, so a big upload could be abandoned within minutes. The queue now pauses as a whole, waits longer each time the limit persists, and resumes on its own. A rate limit no longer counts as a failed attempt.
- Alt text retried properly - a busy or unreadable reply from the vision service was treated as permanent, and the image kept an empty alt for good. These are now retried. A failed attempt is never charged.
- Faster, safer queue - a healthy queue now drains every minute instead of every five, and two queue runs can no longer overlap and process the same image twice.
- Size backfill retries again - the job that fills in image sizes added after conversion was dropping every failure instead of retrying temporary ones.
Conversion
- Filenames with special characters - an image named with a character such as a registered-trademark sign was converted by the service, then rejected on save with "No WebP files were saved". Those files now save normally.
